Didcot Town Council consists of 21 councillors (members), who represent the 6 wards which cover Didcot. The wards are and number of members are as follows:
All Saints - 5 members
Ladygrove - 7 members
Milbrook - 1 member
Northbourne - 4 members
Orchard - 1 member
Park - 3 members

Councillors do not receive any payment. They give their time voluntarily to the benefit of the community and residents.
The quality status that the Council was first awarded in 2004, was replaced by the Local Council Award Scheme (LCAS) in January 2015.
The Council has been transferred to the Foundation Level of the LCAS for a one year transitional period until January 2016. Prior to this date, the Council intends to submit an application for an award at an appropriate level under the LCAS. Further details of the scheme are available here. The Leader of the Council for 2015/2016 is Councillor Charlie Robertson and the Deputy Leader is Councillor Bill Service.

The Town Council elects a Mayor and Deputy Mayor to serve for one year. Meetings of the Council are chaired by the Mayor, assisted by the Deputy Mayor in accordance with standing orders. The Mayor of Didcot from 16th May 2016 to 9th May 2017 is Councillor Steve Conel; the Deputy Mayor is Councillor Jackie Billington.
