Local Council Award Scheme
On 28th June 2004, the Town Council was the first in South Oxfordshire to be awarded Quality Status. Quality Status was successfully reaccredited in June 2009, making Didcot Town Council the first in the district and the second in Oxfordshire to do so.
Quality Status was introduced in 2003 as part of the Government's drive to modernise local government and ensure that all local authorities are in touch with the communities they serve. It recognises councils that have demonstrated the ability to work effectively within set standards to provide a representative and active body capable of playing a stronger role in the community.
From 6th January 2015 the Quality Status has changed to the Local Council Award Scheme. As the Council had already achieved Quality Status it has automatic transition to the Foundation Level which expires in January 2016.
