Outdoor Services Manager

Salary Scale: SCP30 £26,822 to SCP34 £30,153 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

18-month contract

We are seeking to appoint to the role of Outdoor Services Manager.  The post is available for 18 months. 

You will manage a team of eight outdoor staff to deliver services across Didcot that include parks, allotments, sports pitches, play areas, the town’s cemetery and Millennium Wood.  In this management role you will be experienced in grounds maintenance with a desire to plan and deliver quality services that meet health and safety and legislative requirements.  The role offers an element of contract management to deliver the service. You will take responsibility for delivery of the Environment Committee’s budget, providing written reports on progress to the Committee’s meetings.  The role may involve some weekend or evening working.

Gardener/Handyperson

Salary: £17,072.00 per annum based on a 37 hour working week:
Hours: 37 hours per week generally from Monday to Friday
Temporary position for 12 months, start date May 2017

We are seeking to appoint to the role of Gardener/ Handyperson. The post is available on a temporary basis for 12 months.

The vacancy is full-time (37 hours) generally from Monday to Friday with some weekend working. To be successful you will need to be flexible to meet operational needs. From time to time you may be asked to work on different days, in the evening or at the weekend.

You will work within a small team of gardeners at the council’s sites across Didcot that include landscaped areas ie parks, sports pitches, play areas, the Town Cemetery and Millennium Wood. The role will involve general basic maintenance, play equipment repairs, grounds maintenance work including pitch marking etc, gate keeping, litter picking, the application of herbicides under COSHH regulations and maintaining a high level of safety within the team.
