160. DRAFT RESPONSE TO THAMES WATER'S WATER RESOURCES MANAGEMENT PLAN
A draft response to the Water Resources Management Plan was circulated. It was reported that the response had been formulated by the Major Issues Working Group. It was noted that the response supported the proposal for a new reservoir near Sutton Courtenay to meet the increase in demand from London, Swindon and Oxfordshire. The Working Group also supported the need for accelerated metering and tariff testing but expressed concern over the possible effect on low income households and the vulnerable.
It was also reported that this response would be need to be dealt with under Standing Order 36, delegation of urgent and routine matters, as the deadline for the response was 27th August 2008 and the next meeting of the Council was 8th September 2008.
It was RECOMMENDED that this response be submitted in response to the consultation.
RESOLVED that this matter be dealt with under Standing Order 36, delegation of urgent and routine matters.
161. RESPONSE TO CONSULTATION ON ALLOCATION OF PRIMARY LAND-WON AGGREGATES
The response to the consultation on land-won aggregates was circulated. It was reported that the response had been formulated by the Major Issues Working Group.
The response to the consultation supported Option 'C', the 'demand' option which gives allocation figures closer to the actual production levels and closer to the level of demand within the county. This would therefore have a minimal impact on transportation as the routes used are beyond or very close to capacity at present.
The response concluded that Option 'C' appeared more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
It was noted that this response had already been submitted under Standing Order 36, delegation of urgent and routine matters, as the deadline was 8th August 2008 and the next meeting of the Council was 8th September 2008..
