Didcot Town Council’s Response to Consultation

We feel that given the planned increases in population across Southern Oxfordshire that Scenario 2 – medium would be an appropriate use of the site.

This would enable educational and water-based activities, including fishing, walking and pony trekking.

There would be a very real benefit for children, for individuals, clubs and voluntary organisations in having such an accessible facility in the South of the County.

We would not envisage powered boats and that vehicle access should be landscaped away from the more tranquil areas.

We ask that pedestrian, cycle, wheelchair and horse access be provided in a safe way from centres of population.

We ask that public transport measures be included, such as bus routing to include nearby bus stops.

We would like to see biodiversity needs included in the designs at an early stage to incorporate reed beds, suitable trees and hedges, bird watching hides and shallow pond skimming areas.

Activities should be inclusive and not restricted only to clubs.
