The new Mayor, Councillor Mr Peter Read (pictured left) said:
"It is a great honour and a privilege to be elected Mayor of Didcot"
Councillor Read vowed to do his best in representing the town during the coming year.
The Mayors charities this year will be:
Restore an Oxfordshire based charity that supports people with mental health issues and the Alzheimer's Society.
Councillor Read said that:
"these are two worthwhile charities that offer a lot of help and support to people in need and the Restore base in Didcot offers support and training to local people with mental health issues. It is hoped that we can raise a lot of money for these two good causes during my Mayoral year."
