HM the Queen's Diamond Jubilee

Submitted on Thursday 2 February 2012 by Karen Dodd

Only one other British monarch has attained a diamond jubilee, Queen Victoria in 1897 so this really is an event to be celebrated.

We are organising a series of events that include the creation of a new garden at the Civic Hall, a tea dance which will include the presentation of the Diamond of Didcot awards on 24th June. This is an Award to Didcot people from Didcot people for those who use their time to help others. More information and a nomination form will be available to down load soon so start thinking about who you would like to see receive an award.

On 14th July we are planning a picnic in the park that should be a fun day out for all the family.

We will also be planting some trees in town to commemorate the occasion.

More details of all of these events will be available soon so check here regularly for updated information.

We have chosen to avoid the first week in June so as not to clash with street parties and other events and to spread the celebrations throughout the year. So keep June 24th and July 14th free to celebrate HM the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with us.
