Get Involved with Didcot’s Big Tidy Up, 27th February 2010
Didcot Town Council will be holding a Big Tidy Up on Saturday 27th February 2010 from 10 a.m. – 12 noon. If you would like to get involved and help keep Didcot tidy then get to the Civic Hall for 10 a.m. where you will be provided with a high visibility tabard, a bag and a litter picker/gloves.
This will be the second time that Didcot Town Council has organised a Big Tidy Up event. The last one saw 15 people tidying in and around the Broadway and 10 people tidying up Lostock Place on Ladygrove. Bet
ween them they collected over 30 bags of rubbish and over 15 bags of recyclables.
This is your opportunity to make a difference in the town. Litter is a major problem for everyone. The cost of clearing it up is met by all of us through our council taxes, and it can also pollute our environment and be a hazard to wildlife. Litter, if not dealt with, can ultimately lead to vandalism, crime and other associated anti social behaviour, a downward spiral that is known as the ‘broken window effect’.
If litter is a problem in your area then you can get advise and help from South Oxfordshire District Council by phoning 01491 823416 or emailing recycling@southoxon.gov.uk .
