Didcot Town Council elected a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor at its Annual Meeting on the 11th May 2009.

The Mayor Designate Councillor Margaret Turner was elected Mayor of Didcot for 2009/2010. Councillor Turner has served on the Council since 2003 and on the District Council for the past two years. Councillor Turner served as Deputy Mayor to Councillor Tony Harbour in 2009/2010. Councillor Turner was handed her chain by the former Mayor and her Mayoral robes by Army Cadet Matthew Woodberry in front of approximately 30 members of the public and invited guests.

A dinner was held after the meeting at which around 75 people attended. The new mayor welcomed all the guests and announced that her chosen charities would be Didcot Hospital and Helen and Douglas House.

The new Deputy Mayor for 2009/2010 is Councillor John Flood. Councillor Capt J Flood first became a Town Councillor in 1983 and has served as Mayor before and also serves as a District Councillor. The Deputy Mayor was handed his chain by the new Mayor and his robes by ATC Cadet Catherine Woodberry.

The Town Council elects a Mayor and Deputy Mayor to serve for one year. Meetings of the Council are chaired by the Mayor, assisted by the Deputy Mayor in accordance with standing orders. The Mayor of Didcot for 11th May 2009 to 10th May 2010 is Councillor Margaret Turner, the Escort is Michael Turner; the Deputy Mayor is Councillor John Flood, the Deputy Mayoress is Marie Flood (all pictured right).
