ACTIVITY ONE: LEAF RUBBING

Leaf rubbing is a great way for children to play within nature and learn at the same time. All that is needed is a handful of different leaves, crayons or colouring pencils and paper.

1 - Collect a handful of various leaves
2- Place the first leaf face down so that the textured side is facing you and place a piece of paper on top
3- Rub the side of the crayon/oil pastel/colouring pencil gently on the paper over the leaf and you will see the pattern appear.
4 - Repeat this using the same piece of paper with different leaves.

Here's an example of some leaf rubbings done during lockdown. The leaf rubbing was then crafted into this amazing dragonfly art. Have a go at creating some leaf rubbing art and send your photos to clordan@didcot.gov.uk
